Dentist open every day at Smales Farm

01 October 2011. A new dental practice called ‘The Tooth Company’ is opening on 1 November in the Q4 Building, and new clients are welcome.

The Tooth Company will open from 8.30am to 9.00pm weekdays and 9.00am to 4.00pm on Saturday and Sunday. The extended opening hours of the ACC-registered practice are designed to deliver maximum convenience and availability for clients, allowing appointments after work or in the weekends.

The innovative approach of owner Dr Andrew Campbell is reflected in the waiting room, which features clean fresh décor and iPads in addition to magazines. Clients can surf the internet, read newspapers, watch movies or play games while they wait.

In addition to general dental treatment, Dr Campbell and colleague Dr Low have a special interest in ‘appearance’ dentistry such as bridges, crowns and veneers. The clinic is equipped with tooth whitening technology from the US that independent reviews rate as the best in the world. The time and cost of a treatment is less than half that of regular tooth whitening.

The Tooth Company is also set up to offer a high level of emergency care. Its dentists have previously worked in the oral and maxillofacial trauma unit of Middlemore Hospital. This allows The Tooth Company to support the dental requirements of people attending Shorecare Accident & Medical Centre.

The opening of the new dental practice means Smales Farm now houses four important health services within a few metres of each other. Next door to the dentist is Shorecare Pharmacy, which is open 365 days of the year from 8.30am to 11.00pm. It is the last pharmacy to close on the North Shore every night, and stocks a full range of pharmacy retail products as well as prescription medicines. A few steps away in Sovereign House is Shorecare Accident and Medical Centre, which provides accident and medical services for the North Shore population 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. GP practice ‘Family Doctors @ Smales’ is co-located within the Shorecare Accident & Medical facility. The GP practice is open from 7.30am to 6.00pm Monday to Friday, and remains open right through lunchtime.

The close proximity of four core health services makes it exceptionally convenient for people to access the service they need, and fill any prescription that results from their consultation, says General Manager Daniel Henderson.

“With a pharmacy, GP practice, accident & medical centre and now general and emergency dentistry, Smales Farm has become a hub for community-based health care services,” he says.
