Air NZ to trial retail arm at Smales Farm

09 February 2010. Travellers will soon be able to book cruises, flights, rental cars and campervans onsite at the Park, as Air NZ gets set to trial a full service retail operation at Smales Farm.

The official launch is on Friday 26 February. The retail trial will then run until 19 March, from level 1 of the Air NZ building.

Air NZ is celebrating the launch with a Market Day on Friday the 26th that will run from 10.00am to 4.00pm. The company will set up stalls in the Air NZ foyer and showcase an extensive range of travel products. Everyone is welcome.

It’s a great opportunity to see what Air NZ has to offer travellers, for flight destinations and much more. If you’ve ever looked at Maui campervans on the road and dreamed about a supremely comfortable camping holiday, the Market Day is your chance to climb inside a fully kitted out campervan and really get the feel of it. You can find out about rental cars, Golden Oldies – trips for the over 35’s - Adventure World, cruise holidays and a whole raft of services from travel insurance to parking options for your vehicle when you go on holiday.

There are generous spot prizes on the day including holiday vouchers, Koru passes, Airpoints memberships and Fly Buys points.

An auction at 1pm will include two Pacific Economy seats to China. All proceeds from the auction will go to the Make a Wish Foundation.

Air NZ Contact Centre Manager Ellese Tudor-Myers says the trial is designed to test demand for a retail presence for Air NZ at Smales Farm.

“We’d like to expand our present call centre operation to include a full service retail store if demand is there from customers,” she says.

“The greater the interest, the more likely it is that the trial will turn into a permanent store, so come and visit us on level one from the 1st to the 19th of March.”
