A big part of what makes Smales Farm different is the history of family ownership; the Smale family has owned the land through four generations. Today, Smales Farm directors Greg, Bill and Chris Smale run the operation.
Their vision is to provide the best place to work and do business in New Zealand. Aspiring to being the ‘best’ means delivering the best to ALL their stakeholders, in the widest sense, and shouldering responsibility as good corporate citizens to make a positive contribution to the economy and country as a whole.
The Smales believe their competitive advantage comes from building the kind of environment where people actually want to go to work – positive energy is infectious!
The park has a flexible approach to building and leasing, which is creating an environment capable of growing and adapting to tenant companies' changing needs and demands.
Intelligent buildings developed with environmentally sustainable features, the iconic architectural designs, and the park-like campus surroundings all add up to an outstanding environment for the Park’s bluechip tenants.
Tenants report high employee satisfaction as Smales Farm delivers on the ‘soft ‘dimensions of the workplace dynamic.

As a family owned business, Smales Farm has the freedom to take a long view, giving tenants the confidence to commit, with most having 12-18 year leases.
A fully developed park over the next 10 years will have employment opportunities for 8000 workers, and a total development of approximately 110,000sqm. It will contribute more than $700 million to the North Shore economy each year and influence the creation of a further 35,000 jobs elsewhere in the region and beyond.
From its 10.8 hectare, high-profile site between Takapuna and the Northern Motorway, Smales Farm is well on track for its 2017 target, and in doing so will house the equivalent of the total current working population of Takapuna’s CBD.
